There are several series available on the streaming site Netflix and that too of different tastes which included Tiger is king as well. A seven-episode series that recently released, shares the story of Joe Exotic, the owner of a big cat park in Oklahoma who was, however, convicted last year of trying to put a hit out on animal welfare activist Carole Baskin as well.

The series introduces you to a world of exotic animal enthusiasts you may have known which certainly draws your attention. For example, magician team Siegfried & Roy used to perform on the Vegas Strip for years with their trained pet tigers before one of them attacked Roy on the stage which you certainly had no idea.

Along with this, there is the retro footage of the man swimming with a leopard, and another guy is driving with a lion next to him in the front seat. The close-ups of the lions and tigers, adorable bear cubs and other creatures are the main attraction of the show – Tiger King which has the ability to become an instant hit as well.

Is Joe Exotic Centre Of Attraction?

However, Joseph Maldonado-Passage, aka Joe Exotic is the centre of attraction here who has pet tigers and owner of the Greater Wynnewood Exotic Animal Park in southern Oklahoma since 1999 as well. Moreover, he used to have 187 big cats in his property including a tiki bar and pizza restaurant, a Burger Barn, a party deck and, a gift shop too.

“The only difference between my pet and your pet is mine have 3-inch teeth and they weigh 400 pounds,” Joe is seen saying this to an audience.

Joe is a familiar face now who openly said that being gay had given him the ability to spoke about his heart out and my mind and asked people to live how they want to in 2016.

“I am gay. I’ve had two boyfriends most of my life. I currently got legally married—thank God it’s finally legal in America,” he said in a campaign video of Last Week Tonight With John Oliver. “I’ve had some kinky sex. I’ve tried drugs through the younger years of my life. I’m broke as s–t.”

Tiger King co-director Eric Goode shared when he first time thought of it. It was more than five years ago when he was in Florida and was doing some investigation on the illegal reptile trade, and there he saw a dealer and a man came while driving with a snow leopard in the van sitting at the back. He also gave credit to his co-director Rebecca Chaiklin.

However, Joe offered $3,000 to a people with the assurance of more money after the job was done—to kill animal rights activist Carole Baskin, who was in no mood to stop his operation.

“Anybody who poses with an exotic cat is a problem,” Baskin said in Tiger King, “and that just drives more and more and more breeding of these cats, who will never live free.”

Meanwhile, Joe’s plan didn’t work out and he later hired another man—who turned out to be an undercover FBI agent as well. However, he was convicted last year in April for his murder-for-hire, eight counts of violating the Lacey Act for falsifying wildlife records and nine counts of violating the Endangered Species Act as well and in January, he got 22 years in federal prison as well.

Currently, Jeff Lowe looks after the GW Exotic Animal Park with his wife. They came to buy a cub earlier in 2015 then they got interested in the animal park.
