The former suits actress and the Duchess of Sussex’s father stated how the letter she sent in 2018 resulted in ending up their relationship. According to the report of Business Insider, Thomas later enabled the Mail to use some portions of the letter in a series of article published in 2019. Enraged regarding the intervention on private affairs, Meghan Markle has decided to sue the publication using the Data Protection Act of 2008.
Thomas Markle has given a witness statement in the United Kingdom high court, stating that there was the absence of concern in the letter about his health. He further said that he had suffered from a heart attack just days before Meghan and Harry got hitched in May 2018.

It appeared in the letter that Meghan expressed her distress over the decision of Thomas to speak about her to the press, she wrote how heartbroken she is due to this. She further wrote that it caused her uncalled pain as her father decided not to speak the truth.

She further told that she sent him texts inquiring about his health and also called him but he didn’t pick up the phone and spoke only to the media. Thomas opinion his daughter’s statement
Coming across this anonymous interview, Thomas wrote in the witness statement that the whole article is a lie. It is portraying him in a wrong way, as “exploitative”. Thomas revealed to the media that he has plans to make a documentary on him and his daughter as a step to rebuild the relationship. He stated that he is hopeful about this and he feels it would do good to their relationship.
The current legal status of the father-daughter duo
A remote two-day hearing is going to be conducted to ascertain about the legal trial, as the Duchess of Sussex team was permitted to go for a summary judgement in October.
