Till now, the spotlight has been exclusively on the royal couple for every footstep they have sought to take forward.  But recently, space has been claimed by a senior royal member from the brood, Sophie. The Countess of Wessex in a rare interview recalled her own struggles within the family as she spoke about her efforts to adjust to the limelight which highly hinted about Meghan’s stake in the imperial household.

She disclosed the reasons behind Meghan’s desperate attempts to garner public attention while staying in the Windsor Castle. As she spoke to The Sunday Times magazine, Sophie admitted about her bliss to enjoy a long-lived relationship with the Queen’s son until their marriage in 1999.

With a contrast of 2 years

While drawing a comparison about her affair with Prince Edward and citing the press coverage from Harry and Meghan’s initial phase of courtship, the mother to a son and a daughter told, “Remember I’d had five years to adjust”. Then she revealed about her uncertainty in the early days of her accord saying, “For our six-month engagement I was even staying in Buckingham Palace. Not that you necessarily know how it will pan out.”

Being a bosom friend

Later on, she addressed her support towards the beginners in the royal family expressing, “We all try to help any new member of the family” who is said to have become an acquaintance to Meghan. While she reflected upon the duo’s relocation to the United States, the countess wished, “I just hope they will be happy.”

The session, however, emphasised her recent visit to South Sudan, as part of her initiative to campaign against sexual violence, wherein last six years, more than 400,000 people lost their lives in a civil war and more than four million were forced to escape their homes.
