Liam Hemsworth has recently shared his vegan diet and it’s relation to his kidney stone. He had a painful surgery for a kidney stone last year and because of that, he had to change his diet and cut down the vegetable intake as well. He had the surgery just before his divorce from famous singer Miley Cyrus.
The 30-year-old Australian actor has informed in an interview with Men’s Health for their May cover, that his experience forced him to start with his vegan diet almost four years ago. But last year in February he started feeling lethargic and then got a kidney stone and later he went through the surgery.
The actor further added that he had to cut down his vegetable intake after the surgery. He also shared that there is a chance of 50 per cent of having another kidney stone for Liam if he continues the way he was eating earlier.

He explained, “Well, my particular kidney stone was a calcium oxalate kidney stone. It forms from having too much oxalate in your diet. Oxalates are really high in a lot of vegetables, specifically spinach, almonds, beetroot, potatoes. Every morning, I was having five handfuls of spinach and then almond milk, almond butter, and also some vegan protein in a smoothie. And that was what I considered super healthy. So I had to completely rethink what I was putting in my body.”
He also said that he made the decision to become a vegan for health reasons and it was before he started shooting for ‘Independence Day: Resurgence.’ He felt great for the first two years, I felt great where his body was strong and cardio was high as well.
However, he also shared that you have to figure out what works best for your body and no one else because if it doesn’t work well later then you need to reassess it. Moreover, he also said that he’s been taking ice baths to maintain his fitness.
