I think The Matrix films are profound, and I think that allegorically, a lot of people in different versions of the film can speak to that. As Lilly Wachowski offered bites to Netflix Film Club, she told that Matrix was anyhow presumed to be an allegory for trans experiences. Wachowski further added, “I’m glad that it has gotten out that, you know, that was the original intention. But the world wasn’t quite ready yet — the corporate world wasn’t ready for it.” She even reported that The Matrix was “all about the desire for transformation, but it was all coming from a closeted point of view.”
