American pop singer Katy Perry has a great connection with India. She is currently in India for a concert in Mumbai at the One Plus Music Festival. The famous singer will be singing some of her big hits of all time in the concert which includes Dark Horse, Roar, and many more. Ever since Katty arrived in the city, fans have become crazy and eagerly waiting to receive all the update of her.
However, the singer visited a few places in India and surprisingly, she met her ex-husband and actor Russell Brand here only. Ahead of her much-awaited concert, here is the singer’s connection to India.
1. Katy Perry’s ex-husband Russell proposed her in front of Taj Mahal
Although Russell Brand and Katy Perry’s marriage existed for only 14 months long, fans across the globe celebrated their togetherness. The former couple also enjoyed a lot of romance, which started when they met at a music award show that Russell hosted and Perry performed there. After nine months when they both visited India, Russell proposed to Katy on New Year’s Eve in front of Taj Mahal.
2. Katy got married to Russell in Rajasthan
The couple got married after a year in a lavish fashion in Rajasthan near the Ranthambhore tiger sanctuary. Inspired by the majestic countryside of northern India, the marriage ceremony reportedly had 21 camels, elephants, and horses, which included in Russell’s wedding procession. Their reception took place at Taj Rambagh Palace with the theme ‘East meets West’
3. Their couple tattoos in Sanskirt:
Rusell and Katy Perry both got matching tattoos on the inside of their respective right arms and that too in Sanskrit. The tattoo read Anuugacchati Pravaha which meant ‘go with the flow’.
4. Katy Perry performed in IPL’s opening ceremony:
The famous international pop star came to India to perform at the opening ceremony of the Indian Premier League in 2015.
Moreover, Katy Perry recently talked about her upcoming show in Mumbai and said, “I am so happy to be returning to India and excited to headline my first-ever performance in Mumbai. I am looking forward to seeing and singing with all of my Indian KatyCats.”
If reports are to be true, Bollywood’s famous director-producer Karan Johar will organise a cocktail and dinner party for the star singer, where she would interact with most of the Bollywood celebrities.
The concert is scheduled to take place for November 16 and the venue has decided to be Mumbai’s DY Patil Stadium.
