Precautions You Need To Take Care While Living With A Coronavirus Patient

If you are staying with someone who is affected with coronavirus, your immediate concerns would be about your health that you might get the affected by the virus, but you will also be worried about your partner, kids or that person. Here are the steps that doctors share and one can follow:

Maintain distance as much as possible

First, don’t panic. If the person shows mild symptoms, the first thing you need to do is self-isolation for the sick person until he or she recovers fully, to restrict the spread of the infection.

With this, you need to stay indifferent room and also use different washrooms if possible to avoid any possibility of getting affected.

Use good hygiene when you will come in contact with them

When you will go to meet that person you need to wear a mask and keep six feet distance from them, the CDC advises.

“After they’ve eaten, use extreme care cleaning the dishes,” said Marcus Plescia, the chief medical officer for the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials which is a nonprofit organization that represents public health agencies.

After meeting with the sick person, you need to wash your hands thoroughly for at least 20 seconds with soap and water. If not, use a hand sanitizer that has at least 60% alcohol and most importantly you need to avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth as well.

Keep the house fully sanitized

When you are staying with the affected person, you need to keep your house as clean as possible. The CDC also says to use household cleaning sprays or wipes daily and gives extra care on laundry too. Moreover, they have asked to use gloves too.

Check the person for their symptoms

If the person with whom you’re living seems to be getting worse in health, you need to call the doctor.

“One should always monitor for symptoms that require you or a family member to see a physician,” Benjamin said. “Those symptoms include persistent fever, shortness of breath and chest pain.”
