Purchasing an AI tablet from Apple, Google, or Samsung will set you back significantly. However, the newer Amazon Fire HD 8 will not. With a starting price of $99.99, it is one of the most affordable AI tablets on the market.
Not only that, but as part of the ongoing Prime Big Deal Days deal, it is available for as cheap as $54.99. The Fire HD 8 tablet is only available in select regions, such as the United States, and it is unlikely to launch in India because Amazon does not sell tablets there.
Amazon has introduced a host of AI features
Amazon has released a slew of AI capabilities, including Writing Assist and Wallpaper Creator, which we’ve seen on some Android smartphones with AI. The upgraded Amazon Silk browser can now summarize web pages with AI.
However, these tablets still do not include the new and better Alexa. All of these AI features are processed in the cloud and powered by a bespoke large language model (LLM).
The updated Fire HD 8 is an 8-inch Android tablet that has the Amazon Appstore. This time around, the tablet features 3 GB of RAM, a 5 MP back camera, and 32/64 GB of internal storage plus a microSD card slot for easy storage expansion.
Some features will be made available for older versions
According to a recent report by The Verge, it has been highlighted that an upcoming update is set to be released, aiming to integrate these advanced AI features.
This update isn’t limited to the newest Fire tablets such as the Fire Max 11 (2023), Fire HD 10 (2023), and Fire HD 8 (2022); instead, it will also extend support for the previous generations of Fire tablets.
This means that older Fire tablet models will also benefit from the enhanced AI capabilities that are soon to be available, as per the report from The Verge.
