All of the prominent and politically engaged members of the party have endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic nominee for US president, after Barack Obama’s endorsement.

The former president had initially withheld his endorsement after Joe Biden’s withdrawal from the campaign, but after Harris gained the support of Bill and Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, state governors, senior Democrats in Congress, and Biden himself, Obama has added his voice, providing a significant boost for the vice-president.

Kamala Harris thanked them for  the support and good wishes, she replied “Oh my goodness. Michelle, Barack, this means so much to me, I am looking forward to doing this with the two of you, Doug and I both. And getting out there, being on the road.” She also added “But most of all, I just wanna tell you that the words you have spoken and the friendship that you have given over all these years mean more than I can express. So thank you both! It means so much. And, and we’re gonna have some fun with this too, aren’t we?”

Harris narrows the gap with Trump in opinion polls

The endorsement coincides with the Harris campaign’s “weekend of action,” which will mark 100 days until the election and feature 2,300 events in crucial states and more than 170,000 volunteers. The campaign has gotten off to a great start.

In an opinion poll conducted by the New York Times and Siena College, Harris trailed Trump by 48% to 47% among potential voters.
