At the recent 10th Google for India event held on Thursday, Google unveiled advanced security enhancements integrated into Google Pay, leveraging Artificial Intelligence to thwart fraudulent payments effectively.
Google proudly informed the attendees that it had successfully blocked fraudulent activities amounting to an enormous Rs 13,000 crore since the previous year. Moreover, Google emphasized its commitment to safeguarding Indian users by issuing an impressive 41 million alerts regarding suspicious transactions, demonstrating its ongoing dedication to combating fraud.
Google is also using AI to automate the removal of fraudulent reviews
In addition to deploying AI technology for automating the removal of fraudulent reviews, Google has successfully eliminated more than 170 million reviews that breached Google Maps policies.
This proactive approach aids in maintaining the integrity of the platform and enhancing the user experience for millions of individuals relying on Google Maps for accurate information.
Snigdha Bhardwaj, director, search and generative AI trust strategy at Google said “These numbers represent more than just data; they represent lives protected, businesses safeguarded, and trust preserved,”
Google has already identified over 10 million malicious apps globally
In addition, Google offers tools like real-time scanning on Google Play Protect that may automatically identify and flag newly discovered security risks in apps that have never been seen before.
As a result, Google has already detected over 10 million malicious apps worldwide, and Android smartphones in India will soon get access to an upgraded fraud prevention function.
Google Play Protect will automatically prevent the installation of any apps that a user tries to sideload from their web browser, file manager, or chat app that might access important permissions—which is frequently the case with financial scams. Over 900,000 high-risk app installations have already been avoided in Singapore, where this service has been available for more than six months.
In the upcoming days, this capability will be made available to eligible Android handsets, assisting them in remaining safe from phony programs.
