Microsoft is set to introduce the Xbox Adaptive Joystick, a single-handed controller designed for players with limited mobility and those struggling with existing thumbsticks, allowing them to operate the controller with one hand.

With four buttons on top and two additional buttons for bumper and trigger controls, the Xbox Adaptive Joystick is “designed as a companion for Xbox Adaptive Controller and other Xbox controllers.”

The new controller is customisable

Players can remap all of the buttons on the new controller, and it even comes with printable 3D thumbstick toppers that you can use to change the thumbstick’s dimensions.

According to Microsoft, players can connect the adjustable Controller for a fully adjustable configuration or simply plug it into their PC or Xbox. The Xbox Adaptive Controller costs $29.99 (roughly Rs 2,500) and will be available on the Microsoft Store early next year.

Microsoft also announced new Lite SE controller from 8BitDo

In addition to the Xbox Adaptive Joystick, the business introduced a new Lite SE controller from 8BitDo, which is also intended for gamers with limited mobility. It has low resistance buttons located on the top and Hall Effect joysticks.

The business is currently in the process of testing a new feature specially designed for Xbox users. This feature aims to streamline the controller usage experience by simplifying button presses for players. It is particularly helpful for users who may struggle with holding buttons for an extended period, catering to diverse gaming preferences and needs.

The new toggle hold function, which is available to Xbox Insiders, operates similarly to sticky keys on Windows and allows users to hold down any button or port on the company’s Adaptive Controller, Adaptive Joystick, and Elite Series 2 controller until it is released.

In the month of May in the current year, Microsoft introduced Proteus, a groundbreaking controller designed to be customized for individuals facing physical disabilities, aiming to enhance their accessibility and inclusivity in the realm of technology.
