Samsung recently unveiled its 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs, showcasing a remarkable advancement from the original 990 EVO SSDs. Dedicated Samsung enthusiasts can anticipate top-tier features such as enhanced PCIe 4.0 compatibility for rapid data transfer rates, considerably boosted read and write speeds, and optimized power efficiency, all contributing to a superior computing experience.

These cutting-edge innovations from Samsung are poised to revolutionize storage capabilities and elevate user performance to unprecedented levels.

The company has been designing computer parts for a long time

Although many customers today associate Samsung primarily with phones and tablets, the business has a long history of creating computer parts. Samsung often produces new SSD types; the 990 EVO SSD range was first introduced in January 2024.

Even though this introduction comes less than a year later, it seems like the new items’ promised enhancements are definitely worth upgrading for.

This autumn, Samsung’s 990 EVO Plus Gen4 M.2 SSDs will be available in capacities ranging from 1TB to 4TB. The Samsung press release states that the 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs have random read and write rates of up to 1,050K IOPS and 1,400K IOPS, with read and write speeds of up to 7,250 MB/s and 6,300 MB/s, respectively.

The Samsung SSDs come with Samsung’s TurboWrite 2.0 software to increase transfer speeds and decrease lag, an AES 256-bit full disk encryption, and a nickel-coated heat shield to prevent overheating.

Three sizes and price points are available for the Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs. Retail prices for the 1TB, 2TB, and 4TB models are $109.99, $184.99, and $344.99, respectively. This is a remarkable price reduction over the Samsung 990 EVO SSDs, which originally retailed for $124.99 for the 1TB variant and $209.99 for the 2TB model.

Samsung notes that compared to the previous generation, there has been a 50% improvement in sequential read and write speeds and a 73% improvement in power efficiency. This makes it an even better deal. Gamers may anticipate improved performance at an even more competitive cost.

The Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs offer better performance and more storage, and while anybody may profit from them, gamers and those who work in streaming or video editing may find them especially useful. The speed and performance of the M.2 SSD will enable PCs to run programs more quickly and will be a huge boost for those who still use HDDs.

SSD prices are falling as technology advances and their performance is improving. The Samsung 990 EVO Plus Gen4 SSDs are a viable upgrade option for anyone who needs more storage space or wants their machine to function better.
