Las Vegas Raiders’ highly acclaimed star wide receiver, Davante Adams, has officially made a trade request, as confirmed by a variety of reputable sources including NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Mike Garafolo, along with ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
Adams’ move, seeking a change in team dynamics, marks a significant development in the ongoing sports news coverage spotlighting player transitions and team strategies within the NFL
Adams told the team that he’d prefer to be traded
Adams reportedly stated to the organization on Monday that he would rather be traded. According to Schefter, the Raiders would “consider” a package for Adams that includes a second-round draft pick and supplementary funds.
In response to a question about whether he had played his final game for the Raiders during his weekly appearance on “Up & Adams” on Tuesday, Adams responded “All I can control is this talk we’re having right here. After we’re done with this, all I can control is the next thing that I’m on to. I’m going to get up in a minute and get a nice workout in, and that’s all I can control.”
When Las Vegas head coach Antonio Pierce’s official Instagram account seemed to like a Sports Illustrated post that questioned whether Adams had already played his final game for the team, rumors about Adams leaving the team started to spread on Monday. Later on, the like was taken down.
On Tuesday, Adams stated that he has not yet spoken with his head coach. He said “I haven’t heard from him. I haven’t talked to him. So I don’t really know exactly what that’s all about. Social media’s a beast. It’s a lot of people out there that saw it and wondering what’s going on (and) people reaching out.”
Adams is guaranteed $16.8 million in salary this season
With two years remaining on his contract, Adams is guaranteed a salary of $16.8 million this season, according to the NFL. None of the $35.6 million that he is owed in 2025 and $36.6 million in 2026 is guaranteed.
Adams, 31, is still among the league’s finest at his position and is probably going to attract a lot of interest. He suffered a hamstring injury that kept him out of the Raiders’ Week 4 home win over the Cleveland Browns. Adams has 18 catches for 209 yards and a touchdown in three games so far this season.
He just finished his fourth season as a 1,000-yard receiver. Adams was dealt by the Green Bay Packers to the Raiders in 2022 in exchange for first and second round draft picks. Adams has spent 11 seasons in the NFL with 10,990 receiving yards and 96 touchdowns after being selected in the 2014 NFL Draft out of Fresno State.
In addition to being a Pro Bowler six times, he was the NFL’s leading receiver of touchdowns in 2020 and 2022. He was also selected a first-team All-Pro three times.
