According to a report from El Nacional, it has been rumored that Cristiano Ronaldo is keen on having Manchester United’s talented winger Antony make a move to Al-Nassr during this summer transfer window.
The purpose behind this move would be to enhance and strengthen the squad’s depth, adding an element of versatility and skill to the team that Ronaldo believes Antony can bring.
The pair played alongside each other at Manchester United
Al-Nassr has struggled for form this summer, winning only one out of eight pre-season friendlies. They have not signed an international player, aside from Bento, with Sadio Mane and Anderson Talisca’s drop in form.
Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly seeking to reunite with Antony at Al-Nassr, Ronaldo played with Antony at Manchester United before he left the club after the contract was mutually terminated on November 22 due to a falling out with Erik ten Hag.
Antony has recently dropped in form at Manchester United. Even if his contract expires in 2027, the Brazilian is eager to depart the club on a free transfer. This would be a big setback to the Red Devils, who paid €95 million plus €5 million in add-ons for Antony’s acquisition from Ajax in August 2022.
“Rest assured, you’ll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists.”
Cristiano Ronaldo may consider Antony for Al-Nassr, but Antony vowed to return stronger and more focused this season despite his struggles during the 2023-24 campaign.
Antony has struggled to justify his high price, achieving only 11 goals and five assists in 82 appearances across all competitions, and only scoring one goal in 29 Premier League appearances last year.
Antony commented “I definitely need more goal participations and to score more goals. It’s something I demand from myself. Rest assured, you’ll hear the name Antony in relation to goals and assists.”
He also added “That’s why I said I put the past behind me, what I went through last season. There were good moments as well, winning a trophy in a United shirt is really important. I matured and grew from it all and this will make me stronger going into this new season. As I said – new season, new mindset I’m a lot more focused and prepared to achieve great things. I feel a lot less burdened and more prepared as well. I’m a lot more focused, and as you said, a lot freer to do what I genuinely know how to do. I’m 100 per cent prepared and focused to help United.”
Antony will look to impress in Manchester United’s season opener against Fulham on Friday, August 16.
