Donald Trump, who was reportedly anxious about Kamala Harris’ impressive fundraising efforts and large rally turnouts, startled his supporters by offering an unexpected and quirky response to an important issue which was raised by a supporter.
“We’re going to drill, baby, drill,”
The supporter told Donald Trump “Out of eight children that I’m a father and a stepfather to, five of them are struggling, and I’m giving them part of my income on a regular basis,”
Trump was asked about his plans to improve the economy, including lowering housing, rent, food, and electricity prices, to enable children to survive without parental assistance.
Trump made a series of “unbelievable” statements, including fabrications about how much bacon costs, exaggerated predictions of inflation, and promises to repeal environmental regulations and increase the production of natural fuels domestically.
He responded, “We’re going to drill, baby, drill,” restating one of his campaign’s tenets, we need to cut energy prices because they will affect the pricing of everything else.4
The presidential candidate asserts that energy was the primary cause of the largest US inflation in history.
The Republican front-runner expressed dissatisfaction with the increased spending under Joe Biden’s administration, comparing it to his administration’s cheaper expenses. He said “Bacon is quadrupled. You can’t order bacon”.
Trump boasted that the US looked fantastic under his administration
Former President Trump expressed his belief that the United States was in a fantastic state four years ago, highlighting how low energy and dining costs enabled easier access to homeownership due to favorable 2% interest rates.
Additionally, he drew attention to the stark contrast in gasoline prices, noting the substantial rise from $1.87 to $5 during that time period.
Social Media criticized him of ignoring an important question with rambling nonsense
Social media users, meanwhile, attacked Trump for his response, calling it a “word salad” and a “non-answer,” and for disregarding a crucial topic in favor of meandering gibberish.
One X user wrote “This poor guy asked a valid question and had to listen to this used car salesman crook spew nonsense and lies,”
A user criticized Trump for responding with a “drill baby drill” to a supporter’s concern about rising rent prices, stating “America deserves better!”.
Another user said “I know Kamala Harris and Tim Walz have an answer to this man’s question that isn’t rambling and weird slogans,” while one other said “this is how you lose votes”.
