The Consulate General of India in New York strongly denounced the recent act of vandalism that occurred at the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Melville, labeling it as completely unacceptable and deplorable.
In response to this disturbing incident, the Consulate has taken immediate action by alerting the appropriate US law enforcement authorities, urging them to promptly investigate the matter and bring those responsible for this reprehensible crime to justice without delay.

Consulate general of India in New York posted their statement on X, it stated “The vandalism of the BAPS Swaminarayan Temple in Melville, New York, is unacceptable ; The Consulate @IndiainNewYork is in touch with the community and has raised the matter with U.S. law enforcement authorities for prompt action against the perpetrators of this heinous act.”
In the meantime, the US Justice Department has been encouraged to look into the attack on the BAPS Hindu Temple in New York by the Hindu American Foundation.
On X, they stated “Hindu temple in Melville, NY shared by OnTheNewsBeat after recent threats to Hindu institutions as a large Indian community gathering is planned in nearby Nassau County this weekend.”
Vandalism incident in New York is similar to attacks on temples in California and Canada
Additionally, it stated that terrorist Gurpatwant Singh Pannun, a Khalistani, had just posted a video threatening Indian and Hindu establishments. It claimed that attacks on temples in Canada and California are comparable to the vandalism incident that occurred in New York.
“Gurpatwant Pannun, of “Sikhs for Justice,” recently posted a video threatening Hindu and Indian institutions, including HAF, as the community event approaches. The vandalism is similar to that seen in attacks on temples in New York, California and Canada & called out by @CongressmanRaja @RoKhanna @ShriThanedar @PramilaJayapal @BeraForCongress @shuvmajumdar and other political leaders,” They stated on X.
Earlier in July, to the dismay of many, the peaceful BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Canada’s Edmonton fell victim to a disturbing act of vandalism. Expressing a deep sense of worry, Canadian MP Chandra Arya spoke out against the troubling trend of hate-driven violence specifically targeting the Hindu-Canadian community.
Chandra Arya on X stated “The Hindu temple BAPS Swaminarayan Mandir in Edmonton is vandalised again. During the last few years, Hindu temples in the Greater Toronto Area, British Columbia, and other places in Canada are being vandalised with hateful graffiti.”
