After 13 people, including 11 children, were stabbed at a dance class in Southport, a 17-year-old boy has been charged with murder and attempted murder.
Meanwhile, violence in Manchester has increased in response to riots elsewhere that was prompted by false information about the suspect.
Victims Of Southport Stabbings
Three girls aged nine, seven, and six died in a ferocious attack during a Taylor Swift-themed dance and yoga class in Southport. Alice Aguiar, a Portuguese national, died in hospital. Bebe King and Elise Dot Stancombe, two children who died on Monday, also died.
Alice’s aunt Carina, who lives in Madeira (Portugal) , wrote on Facebook: “You were just an innocent child.. a happy girl.. smiling… who had a happy life ahead of her. Which a despicable being took from you… without pity or mercy… without any reason.”
Her parents also said “Keep smiling and dancing like you love to do our princess. You’re always our Princess.”
Family of Bebe King also said “ “No words can describe the devastation that has hit our family as we try to deal with the loss of our little girl Bebe.”
8 more Children and 2 adults were also injured
Five of the eight other youngsters who were stabbed are in critical condition.
Despite her wounds, one of the wounded girls assisted in leading a few other girls to safety at a neighbor’s house, while two adults who attempted to shield the kids are also in critical condition.
Leanne Lucas, the dance and yoga teacher, suffered stab wounds to her back and shoulder and was to undergo surgery on Tuesday. Pauline Bennet, Leanne’s aunt, said “She’s only tiny, she wouldn’t have stood a chance against a man with a knife, but she just wanted to protect those children.”
After hearing screams from his office, law firm director Jonathan Hayes (63) went into the dance studio and attempted to disarm the knife-wielding suspect, but he was stabbed in the leg and is still in the hospital.
Taylor Swift commented about the incident on Instagram, she said “The horror of yesterday’s attack in Southport is washing over me continuously and I’m just completely in shock.”
A 17-year-old male from Banks was arrested on suspicion of murder and attempted murder.
According to UK media, the man was born in Cardiff, and his parents are from Rwanda.
