Dusan Vlahovic showcased his scoring prowess by netting two goals to propel Juventus to the top of Serie A following a convincing 3-0 victory over Genoa.

The match took place in an eerily quiet stadium as Genoa was penalized for fan disturbances during their recent Italian Cup loss to Sampdoria.

Juventus is a point ahead of Torino, AC Milan and Inter Milan

Juventus, who won 3-2 at Udinese earlier on Saturday, is one point ahead of Torino, AC Milan, and Inter Milan. Vlahovic settled a match that was played in an environment reminiscent of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The Serbian striker has only scored once in his previous six Juventus games due to his poor form in the first few weeks of the season. However, he scored the first goal two minutes after the break from the penalty spot, and in the 55th, he scored again after Teun Koopmeiners’ excellent assist.

Vlahovic said “People talk, say that you’re the best when you score goals and a flop when you don’t. I do my talking on the pitch, I know very well that there is a lot expected of me and I am not running away from that.”

Juventus is yet to concede a league goal

With a professional performance, Thiago Motta’s club ended a string of three straight goalless draws in Serie A and is yet to give up a goal in the league this season. The team also scored in the closing minutes through replacement Francisco Conceicao. In the 64th minute, Koopmeiners struck the crossbar within the six-yard box, failing to put home Conceicao’s low cross, giving Juve a bigger margin of victory.

After the match against their second-tier neighbors Sampdoria, Genoa’s fervent supporters were barred from the Stadio Luigi Ferraris, making the work simpler for the visiting team.

Numerous injuries to fans and police resulted from protracted altercations between the extreme ultras prior to and following Wednesday’s intense derby cup match, prompting an Italian security agency crackdown. After suffering their third loss of the year, Genoa is just one point above the relegation zone in 16th position.
