While Manchester United’s hard-fought 2-1 victory over Brentford marked a crucial turning point after a month-long winless streak, it took place amidst swirling rumors surrounding Erik ten Hag’s future as the manager.

Despite the intense scrutiny and pressure surrounding the match, ten Hag insisted that the result held no greater importance than any other successful outcome, emphasizing the team’s commitment to consistency and resilience in facing challenges head-on.

Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund scored

After conceding, United rallied with goals from Alejandro Garnacho and Rasmus Hojlund, moving them up to 11th place in the Premier League rankings.

One day after Ten Hag claimed that rumors regarding his work were “fairytales and lies” in the media, the team won at Old Trafford.

When asked if the season might be about to change, Ten Hag responded “No, it is just a win. The pressure is always there. We have to win every game. Every game we win is important. This team, you see togetherness, and a fighting spirit. Today we had some determination to score goals, and that’s what we need. Today we scored two brilliant goals and we are very pleased with it.”

“This team has the capacity to score very good goals”

Ten Hag attributed his team’s dismal start to the season to the fact that United began the game tied with Crystal Palace for the fewest goals scored in the league this year (five).

Ten Hag said “This team has the capacity to score very good goals, Today the two goals we scored were high quality and when you score and win you add confidence.”

“At the start of the season, we had some good performances but didn’t score enough, and then everyone is negative. This result can help us, but it is only one win and we must build on it.” He added.

Ten Hag had nothing but love for Marcus Rashford, who has been the subject of criticism from supporters despite playing a fantastic game that included a great cross that ended up in the back post for Garnacho’s goal, United’s first.

He said “Really enjoyed how he played, you see what he’s capable of, a lot, We want this every game, really intense and then a brilliant cross. Starts with a fighting spirit. When we all bring this we have a team that can play for trophies.”
