Liverpool’s struggles with injuries seem unending as the team faces another setback, with striker Diogo Jota now joining the long list of unavailable players as confirmed by manager Arne Slot on Tuesday.

These ongoing injury concerns are especially worrying ahead of Wednesday’s crucial Champions League match against RB Leipzig, adding to the pressure on the team to find ways to cope with the absence of key players and continue striving for success despite the challenging circumstances.

Jota was forced off the pitch after 30 minutes in match against Chelsea

Right back Conor Bradley missed the entire match due to injury, and Jota was taken off the field after 30 minutes of Sunday’s 2-1 Premier League triumph over Chelsea.

Due to injuries, Liverpool was already without midfielder Harvey Elliott, striker Federico Chiesa, and goalkeeper Alisson Becker; none of them have traveled to Germany for Wednesday’s game.

Slot said “Conor Bradley, Harvey Elliott, Federico Chiesa, and Alisson didn’t make the trip so we have a few issues at the moment, Diogo got a knock when he was trying to go to goal, he was brought down but the other player fell on to him, and that hurt him and he couldn’t continue to play and come with us.”

“It is difficult to judge at this moment of time to see how long it’s going to take.” He added.

Liverpool has won both its fixtures in Europe this season

Liverpool has won both of its European games so far this season, whereas Leipzig, Wednesday’s opponent, has lost both of their first meetings in the new league, which consists of 36 teams instead of four groups.

However, Slot claimed that the “league table doesn’t tell the whole story” and that it was too soon to assess how teams were performing.

Slot stated “The concept of the Champions League (as far as) I got my head around it — I don’t think you can have a fair opinion yet because we are only two games into the Champions League now, We’ve to wait and see what the result of this format is and you can only judge that after the group stages are done.”
