Injuries at Barcelona continue to be a major concern as midfielder Fermin Lopez faced a setback during training on Tuesday, aggravating a new muscular issue in his right thigh, adding to the left hamstring injury he sustained earlier this month.
He is expected to be out for around three weeks
The 21-year-old, who played a significant role in Spain’s recent successes at the European Championships and the Paris 2024 Olympics, is now expected to be sidelined for approximately three weeks according to the club’s latest update.
Despite his injury setbacks, Lopez has been a key player for Barcelona, showcasing his talent through 11 goals and one assist in his 45 appearances for the Catalans.
The La Liga leaders are currently facing some significant absences in their squad. Their new signing, Dani Olmo, is unfortunately sidelined for a period of up to five weeks due to a right hamstring injury.
In addition to Olmo, key midfielders Gavi, Frenkie de Jong, and Marc Bernal are also out of action. The defensive line is not spared either, with the absence of defenders Ronald Araujo and Andreas Christensen adding to the team’s current challenges.
Barcelona has made a perfect start to the season
Under the management of new head coach Hansi Flick, Barcelona has kicked off the season in exceptional form, securing a flawless record of five victories out of five matches, propelling them to the summit of the La Liga table, boasting a significant four-point lead over reigning champion Real Madrid.
As they maintain their domestic success, the Catalan giants now turn their attention towards their upcoming Champions League fixture, where they are scheduled to face French outfit Monaco on Thursday.
This anticipated clash will serve as a crucial test for Barcelona’s European campaign under Flick’s guidance, as they aim to replicate their impressive domestic form on the grand stage of the Champions League.
