With over 38 million users online, the well-known online gaming platform Steam just achieved a significant milestone. It now stands as the new all-time high for online players.
Since its initial release in September 2003, one of the most popular gaming platforms and online marketplaces worldwide is Steam, which was created by Valve.
With more than 100,000 games available in the US, Steam is the biggest online gaming marketplace for PCs, surpassing rivals such as the Epic Games Store. In the online game industry, Steam has now achieved yet another significant milestone.
Steam regularly hosts a variety of sales
While other platforms offer players special incentives to sign up, Steam provides players with a plethora of reasons to come back to the online service.
Together with its own legendary “Summer Sale,” which frequently offers thousands of titles at a discount, Steam frequently holds a number of sales for other holidays.
In addition, Valve unveiled the Steam Deck, a portable gaming device that lets users access their Steam catalog and play PC games while on the go. Another record for Steam has now been broken by the platform’s ongoing success.
For the third time in the last two years, Steam has now achieved a new high for the most concurrent online users on the platform. This record was recently set.
Early on Sunday morning, Steam would surpass the 38.3 million player milestone, setting a new record of 38,367,277 users online. Steam had already broken the 32 million player mark in January 2023 and then again earlier this year when it reached the 37 million player mark.
Over 130 million people are projected to be active on Steam each month.
Steam is bringing previously console-exclusive titles to PC
The tremendous popularity of Steam coincides with more developers starting to release their one console-only games on PC. With the most recent release of God of War Ragnarok, the 2022 Game of the Year winner, on Steam last week, Sony has taken significant steps in introducing several of its most well-liked exclusives to the platform.
A number of Microsoft’s well-known first-party titles, like the Halo and Forza series, are now playable on Steam.
Along with a plethora of fascinating news and speculations about Steam’s inventor, Valve, comes a new record for the number of concurrent users. After being widely speculated about for over a year, Valve finally revealed its newest IP, Deadlock, a third-person MOBA with hero shooting.
The game is now in beta testing. Another round of rumors has surrounded the Half-Life series, this time around a mystery test branch for Half-Life 2, which has given rise to wild speculations about a 20th anniversary update for the game. With Steam’s widespread appeal, Valve’s status as one of the gaming industry’s symbols is solidified.
