The PUBG Nations Cup 2024 broke records in viewership, with a peak of 404,725 viewers, solidifying its position as the third-most-popular esports event in PUBG history.

As reported by Esports Charts, the event maintained an average viewership of 183,400 and amassed almost 2.8 million watch hours throughout its extensive 15-hour duration.

This exceptional performance highlights the significant interest and engagement levels generated by the tournament among the gaming community.

This year’s edition was held in Seoul

Top players selected by their peers to compete in PUBG as representatives of their country are included in the Nations Cup format. After a two-year break, the game’s developer, KRAFTON, reopened the circuit in 2022.

The event this year took place from September 6–8 in Seoul, South Korea. With a prize pool of $300,000 (~£229,000), 16 nations played, and South Korea won the championship for the second year in a row.

It should come as no surprise that the most watched match of the event was the Grand Final between the winning country and the United States, the runners-up.

It has also become the second-most popular Nations Cup of all time

This year’s Nations Cup saw a significant increase in viewership, attracting 140,000 more peak viewers than 2023, making it the second-most popular Nations Cup of all time, surpassed only by the 2019 edition with 492,700 peak viewers.

Despite the Korean team’s success, the Vietnamese broadcast had the largest audience, with 146,550 peak viewers, followed by the Korean livestream with 102,034 and the Thai broadcast with 72,269 peak viewers.

With 210,326 peak watchers, the vast majority of PUBG fans watched the event on YouTube. Only 70,464 and 45,356 peak viewers were observed on other sites, such as Twitch and Afreeca TV, respectively.

The PUBG Global Championship in Kuala Lumpur, set to begin on December 9th, is the biggest tournament in the 2024 PUBG competitive calendar, with a prize pool of $1.5m, and last year’s sponsors included gaming chair manufacturer AndaSeat and technology corporation MSI.
