Play VS, an innovative esports company, has recently revealed an exciting collaboration with the prestigious National Football League (NFL) to introduce a groundbreaking initiative targeting the younger generation – the Madden NFL Youth Championship (MYC).
This pioneering event marks the inception of the first-ever youth-focused esports tournament within the Madden series, a lineup of immensely popular football games. The MYC is set to encompass a series of four thrilling qualifier tournaments, culminating in two highly anticipated LAN finals, promising participants and spectators an unforgettable experience.
The event will be open for all middle and high school students
The new series is a result of a cooperation between scholastic esports business PlayVS, known for working with schools and students to stage esports events, and the NFL, one of the world’s most popular sports leagues.
As a part of the contract, PlayVS will handle all tournaments and be a hub for team schedule, conversations and brackets, among other things.
The event’s organizers claim that it will foster personal development, leadership skill development, and friendship for all middle and high school students in the United States. There will be two tournament segments: a fall tournament and a winter tournament.
In the upcoming Fall season, there will be two exciting qualifiers held in both October and November. The victors of these tournaments will be rewarded with a wonderful trip to the sunny city of Orlando, Florida. Furthermore, they will have the incredible opportunity to showcase their skills and compete in the championship finals, which are scheduled to take place during the 2025 NFL Pro Bowl Games.
As we transition into the Winter season, the qualifiers will be held in February and March. The winners of these prestigious events will have the chance to win an unforgettable trip to the iconic city of Green Bay in April. They will then have the honor of participating in the highly-anticipated finals held during the 2025 NFL Draft.
“We are helping students develop essential skills.”
Ed Kiang, vice president of video gaming at the NFL claimed “The Madden NFL Youth Championship aligns perfectly with our goal to engage young fans and foster a love for football through innovative and accessible platforms. By offering this opportunity, we are helping students develop essential skills.”
He also added “The chance to compete at marquee NFL events like Pro Bowl Games and the NFL Draft provides an unforgettable experience that connects students directly with an NFL community brought together through their love of Madden NFL. We look forward to seeing the incredible talent and enthusiasm these young players will bring.”
