The trailer for The Last of Us Season 2 has sparked criticism from Sony fans who are expressing their dissatisfaction with the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection
The newly debuted The Last of Us Season 2 trailer has caught the attention of several Sony fans, some of whom, in a vocal minority, have expressed criticism pertaining to the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection.
Although these perspectives do not overwhelmingly shape the overall discussions about the trailer, they do shed light on certain ongoing consumer concerns within the PlayStation community, reflecting a broader sentiment of dissatisfaction among fans towards recent developments in the world of PlayStation gaming.
The PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection products went up for pre-orders
Pre-orders for the PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection products opened on September 26. In every market where Sony decided to sell them, the majority of them had sold out right away.
Some customers were not happy with this turn of events, especially once it became apparent that scalpers had taken up a sizable portion of the limited-edition collection and were selling it for outrageous prices.
Following the release of the first teaser trailer for The Last of Us Season 2, which debuted on September 26, some fans have chosen to express their frustrations over the situation. PlayStation was among the companies engaged in the TV show’s production that released the first glimpse of the new season on Twitter.
This led to a barrage of non-sequitur fan reactions criticizing the way the firm handled pre-orders for the anniversary collection. A significant portion of these complaints were directed towards the PlayStation Direct store, which was purportedly pushing customers out of lines that were still being attended to.
Fans have also voiced criticism of Sony for not doing more to prevent scalping
In addition to being upset that they were unable to purchase any PlayStation 30th Anniversary Collection items, several fans have criticized Sony for not taking more action to stop scalping after seeing the teaser.
As an example, the PS5 Pro bundle, the crown jewel of the collection, is presently selling for up to $13,750 on eBay, representing a 1,276% markup. As of September 28, many active eBay auctions for the package had already received bids above $5,000; however, it is yet unknown if the offers these auctions have drawn are genuine.
Even though these remarks have received some limited attention on Twitter, they still only make up a small portion of responses to the teaser for The Last of Us Season 2, the most of which are in fact connected to the season, which is scheduled to launch in 2025.
However, this development shows that not all PlayStation enthusiasts are happy with how the 30th Anniversary Collection pre-orders were managed. The latest rumors of some PS5 Pro 30th Anniversary Edition pre-orders being canceled without notice only serve to exacerbate their annoyance. On November 21, those who were fortunate enough to get a pre-order can anticipate receiving their brand-new console package with a PS1 motif.
