Game developer Riot Games has recently announced significant modifications to its tier-two League of Legends (LoL) framework in the form of the new Americas League.
Noteworthy adjustments involve comprehensive restructuring of the Latin American leagues, alongside comprehensive specifics regarding the one-year guest slot within the tier-one Americas League.
These changes are poised to revolutionize the competitive landscape of the game, bringing forth fresh opportunities and renewed excitement for players and fans alike.
The new tier-two system will feature two conferences with two leagues each
The creator of League of Legends said in June that it planned to combine the tier-one Americas leagues, LCS, CBLOL, and LLA to create a pan-American circuit in 2025 that would use a two-conference structure. This month’s last LCS split ended with a strong viewership.
Similar to this, there will be two conferences with two leagues each in the new tier-two system. The NACL and CBLOL Academy contests in North America and Brazil, respectively, will continue.
But the current qualifiers in Latin America will become LRN (Liga Regional Norte) and LRS (Liga Regional Sur), official tier 2 leagues. The two gatherings will be dubbed South (CBLOL Academy and LRS) and North (NACL and LRN).
A two-split model will be used by all four leagues in addition to the tier-one Split two and three. Devoted qualifications will also be provided to the leagues in order to guarantee an open ecology.
Additionally, the Full Fearless system will be used in every Americas tier-two first split, which will forbid teams from using the same champions from their previous series encounter.
The competitive season will culminate in a tier-one Promotion Tournament
The top two tier-two clubs from each regional league will play the Guest Team from each tier-one conference in a tier-one Promotion Tournament, which will serve as the competition’s finale. A spot in the Tier-1 Americas league and the chance to advance to international competitions like the Worlds Championship will be awarded to the champions.
Moreover, promoted teams will use a business plan similar to partner teams’. A later time will see the release of the 2025 tier 2 season’s complete schedule.
In the future, Riot intends to work toward incorporating other components, such as the Americas Challengers Tournament and tier-one Sister Teams and Collegiate Teams, into the tier-two ecosystem. Six tier-two teams will play in this inaugural pan-Americas League for a $75,000 (~£56,000) prize pool.
