Xbox Game Pass now offers gamers the opportunity to play Wargroove 2, a fascinating game developed by Chucklefish and Robotality.

Xbox Game Pass Ultimate customers have already had a busy September thanks to the addition of five day-one titles to the program in the first half of the month.

Wargroove 2, which debuted in October 2023 on PC and Switch, will be available on Xbox on September 19 for owners of PC and Ultimate Game Pass.

Wargroove and Wargroove 2 are turn-based tactics games

Turn-based strategy games Wargroove and Wargroove 2 draw inspiration from the 2001 Game Boy Advance classic Advance Wars.

Regarding the first game, Chucklefish, the developer, stated that the intention was to adapt the series’ “simple yet deep” and approachable gameplay to contemporary platforms. In keeping with that, both Wargroove games come with a gorgeous pixel art package that intensifies the Advance Wars theme.

On September 19, Wargroove 2 will be available on Xbox Game Pass for PC, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S. At least initially, only Ultimate and PC Game Pass customers will be allowed to play it on the service upon debut due to recent modifications made to Xbox Game Pass. The duration of a day-one game’s inaccessibility to Standard tier members is currently unknown.

Players of Wargroove 2 travel to the coasts of Aurania, set a few years after the events of the original game. The ancient artifacts that the Faahri, a new group of learned rats, have discovered could be catastrophic due to their banned technologies. The tactical fighting starts, though, for they are on a mission of discovery and will not allow anything to stand in their path.

Wargroove offers local and online co-op

In addition to a single-player narrative mode, Chucklefish’s Wargroove 2 allows both local and online cooperative play for up to four players. Conquest, a roguelike single-player option in the game, offers bite-sized combat.

Additionally, the in-game editor lets players create their own unique campaigns, maps, rules, and cutscenes that can be shared with other players.

Two more games that will be added to Xbox Game Pass in September have been announced thus far. On September 20, Frostpunk 2, the follow-up to the critically acclaimed city-building survival game from 2018, will be available.

Additionally, on September 24, Oxide Games’ Ara: History Untold, a different turn-based strategy game, will be accessible. Only Ultimate and PC Game Pass customers will be able to get both of these games as they will be available on Xbox Game Pass from day one.
