Endgame Star Mark Ruffalo Reveals His Broken Stand On Iron Man’s Death

Another year since the release of Avengers: Endgame, isn’t far away following the huge turnout in global box-office numbers with $2.79 billion. That was the last time the OG 6 Avengers were seen together in a single movie. Tony Stark, in particular, made the ultimate sacrifice giving up his own life to defeat Thanos and bring back to life the dusted ones.

A Wound Deep Inside: Iron Man’s Unprecedented Demise

Mark Ruffalo, just like everyone, was left heartbroken over Iron Man’s death who during an appearance at C2E2 in Chicago, spoke about his profound admiration for Robert Downey Jr. The 52-year-old actor shared via comic book, “Robert. Robert’s my hero. His Iron Man is like definitive and he started all this. I always marvel at him when I’m working with him, so… I’ mean, he’s done it the longest and done it with the most class and grace and generosity so yeah, I’d say Robert and when he died, that broke me.”

He also teased later on saying, “We thought he was getting married. That’s what was in my script.”

The Pre Decided Role: Hulk

Ruffalo also explained about his own superhero portrayal in the film, that the merging of Bruce Banner with Hulk had been in the works for a while before actually happening in Endgame.

“A few years ago we sat down and kind of plotted out what the Banner/Hulk/Professor arc would be and we pretty much stuck to it starting with Age of Ultron and then ending with Endgame. It was fun… I’ve been lucky because the arc of Banner and Hulk over all the films has been pretty different. I’ve gotten to play three characters now. I’ve kept it interesting for myself as an ADHD casualty. It’s pretty much exactly how we planned it to be. It’s been a lot of fun to do it and melding two characters together seemed to be the kind of final instalment of the Banner/Hulk relationship. They made peace with each other.”

Meanwhile, Ruffalo will be next seen in the HBO miniseries, I Know This Much is True where the actor plays twins Dominick and Thomas Birdsey. The gripping family drama will premiere on April 27, 2020.
