Elon Musk Reveals a Secret about Tesla’s Upcoming Project
Elon Musk – the chief executive of Tesla Inc has said that the U.S. electric carmaker may be able to produce longer-life batteries with 50% more energy density in the upcoming three-four years. On Monday, he took to Twitter and tweeted that Tesla will make batteries that could deliver higher mileage within the next 3 to 4 years.
“400 Wh/kg with high cycle life, produced in volume (not just a lab) is not far,” Musk tweeted before the anticipated “Battery Day” on September 22 event where Tesla is expected to share their improved battery performance to fans and investors.
Meanwhile, researchers have shared that the energy density of the Panasonic batteries is around 260Wh/kg which has been using in Tesla’s Model 3 now. As per the new development, the new batteries will see a 50 per cent jump in energy density which is important in the longer driving range as well.
On the other hand, Reuters reported in May that Tesla was on the verge of revealing their first-ever “million-mile” car battery as they were working with China’s Contemporary Amperex Technology Ltd (CATL), which will come early 2021 in Chinese-made Model 3 sedans as well.

They even showed a background image where a number of dots were clustered in line formations which gave a hint about their revelation among media and fans as well. Meanwhile, Park Chul-wan – the South Korean battery expert has said that the image could be “silicon nanowire anode” – a breakthrough technology which can bring the change in both battery energy density and battery life together.
Meanwhile, the batteries – that hold greater energy density and storage capacity will eventually proceed in other markets which also included North America too. Even Tesla also planned to implement new high-speed and automated battery manufacturing processes which are designed to reduce labour costs and increase production as well.
