The Controversy Stems After Megan Markle Claims her Invasion of Privacy by the Splash and Picture Agency
The Duchess of Sussex, Meghan Markle expresses her distressed over being photographed by the Splash and picture agency. The Mirror UK reports that the pictures of the actress and her son Archie were taken in a park in Canada on January 20. According to the report, the Duchess took the case against both the agencies to court, wherein a virtual court hearing the media agencies have admitted that they have done an unlawful invasion of private affairs by snapping the Duchess and her son Archie. They further stated that the selling of the images has resulted in violating the data and protection rights. The pictures project the actress walking with her baby boy and her two dogs at Horton Hill regional park on Vancouver Island.

The details of the resolved settlement were conveyed to Mr Justice Nicklin, with the agency accepting the court order which follows restriction of taking photographs of the Duch and the Duchess or their one-year-old son Archie. An identical complaint has been made against Splash’s sister agency (Splash US). The case continues to proceed through the British court system. The former Suits actress launched the complaint regarding privacy and data protection claim in March this year, according to the Uk Mirror report.

The spoke person of the duchess name Jenny Afia, reported to the media on 1st July that in keeping the administration in mind, the couple has agreed to settle the claim against Splash UK. She further said that the administration of the agency has reported agreeing upon not snapping the family of the three in the future. Also, she has informed the court that the photographs were taken when the Duchess and her ward Archie were enjoying a private family outing in a remote rural setting. The day before the snaps were taken, a Splash photographer was seen to carry out a full reconnaissance of the property where the couple was staying, as the solicitor informed. The report of the Mirror UK further read that the photographer was noticed examining the entry and exit points and putting a camera over the fence.

The couple has announced in January that they were quitting life as senior royals. The Sussexes were residing in the British province of Canada at the end of 2019 to early 2020, before moving to the United States as reported by the Hello magazine. The family is currently living in Montecito, Santa Barbara. The duo has been reported to sign a significant contract to record and produce podcasts for streaming of giant Spotify. The deal involves, their production company Archewell Audio which is estimated to be worth around 30 million dollars. The announcement has come into the limelight after the couple signed a Netflix deal to produce a range of programmes and series which is rumoured to be worth around 100 million dollars.
