R&B artist Usher has rescheduled the first night of his Past Present Future world tour to “give his body a second to rest and heal”. The eight-time Grammy winner postponed his gig in Atlanta, Georgia, hours before it was supposed to begin on Thursday.
The 45-year-old is scheduled to perform at the same location on Friday and Saturday, however he did not specify why he needed time to heal.
“The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you”
Usher stated “For my 30-plus year career, 100% of my blood, sweat and tears has gone into putting on the best performance and creating a memorable experience for my fans, I have every intention of doing that for this tour as well, which is why I have to postpone tonight’s show and reschedule it for a later date to give my body a second to rest and heal.”
He added “You’re still going to get a bit of the past, some of the present and a unique look into the future on the rescheduled date but you’ll also be getting 100% me. The last thing I want to ever do is disappoint you, the fans who have been eagerly waiting for this tour to start. However, I wouldn’t be the entertainer that I am if I can’t physically give you my best.”
He finally ended his statement by saying “I can’t wait to celebrate this legacy with you”.
Two days before the show, Usher released his ninth studio album
In the days preceding his Super Bowl halftime performance at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, which featured a combination of favorites like Yeah! and Love In This Club, the singer revealed the US portion of the tour.
His first solo album since 2016’s Hard II Love, Coming Home, is his ninth studio album, which was released two days prior to the performance.
The artist will embark on his first European tour since the 2015 UR Tour, featuring shows in London, Paris, Amsterdam, and Berlin.
Although Usher’s first self-titled album was published in 1994, his 2004 release Confessions, which had some of his biggest singles, such as Burn and Confessions Part II, solidified his place in the music industry.
Usher has four chart-topping tunes in the UK singles chart, including OMG starring Will.i.am.
