In a recent episode of the New Heights with Jason and Travis Kelce podcast, which was released on Wednesday, September 11, Travis Kelce shared intriguing insights about his experience at the US Open alongside Taylor Swift.
During this podcast episode, Travis mentioned that his attendance at the US Open on September 8 marked his inaugural visit to such a prestigious tennis tournament.
It was fascinating to hear Travis describe his first-time experience at the US Open, providing a unique glimpse into this exciting outing with Taylor Swift.
“It was my first time”
Travis Kelce said “It was my first time. My second time going to a tennis match, at least a professional tennis match as big as this one,”
“This was a completely different world,” he added “I looked to my left and my right and every single time I did it, I saw a familiar face. There were so many f—— people there to see the action, especially the final game, knowing that an American was in the US Open, Taylor Fritz.”
“Unfortunately, he couldn’t come away with a win but it was still fun to see two of the top dogs in the game go at it for a couple hours,” he added.
In response to Jason’s inquiry regarding the nature of a sizable live tennis match, he replied “It’s very quiet and you know us, when it’s very quiet, we want to say something.”
“I’m not a quiet person, never been a quiet person, I’ve always been the kid at the back of the class when it gets quiet, like say something smart or say something funny or at least try and get a rise out of people.” He continued “So the entire time I wanted to heckle the Italian Sinner, the number one player in the world.”
Travis wanted to get into Sinner’s head
Travis clarified that his goal was to Fritzy out via entering Sinner’s mind.
“But I played it cool, I played it respectful,” he said. He goes on to say he’s positive he would have been asked to leave if he had heckled the celebrity “like the guy did in Happy Gilmore.”
Travis described himself as dressed and acting the part, remaining quiet except during intermissions when music was playing.
He said “That was about the only time I was really showing my personality,”
Travis and Swift were seen dancing to The Darkness’ 2003 song “I Believe in a Thing Called Love” at an event on Sunday.
In the meantime, Travis talked about the observation made by fans that he was watching football during the US Open on his podcast.
“Well Jason, when you get something like Sunday ticket on YouTube TV, you can watch any game you want. You can actually watch up to four games at once, The first Sunday of the NFL season, you think I was gonna miss the 1 o’clock start?” Travis stated.
