Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are on day two of a four-day tour of Colombia, where Meghan showcased her Spanish proficiency by speaking to school children in Bogotá.
Megan and Harry went to Colegio La Giralda in Santa Fe, where they saw plays, took part in an art class, and discovered more about the health and welfare of the children. In keeping with a royal trip, they also planted trees to commemorate their presence.
“You’re the same age as my son Archie.”
“You’re the same age as my son Archie,” Meghan said to a kindergarten pupil as she and Harry worked on puzzles with them in Spanish. Additionally, it was reported that Harry asked pupils in Spanish their names and ages.
It is unknown how proficient the Prince is in the language. On the website of the royal family, Meghan had an official biography that has since been removed. It stated that she speaks Spanish, which she picked up while working as an intern at the US Embassy in Buenos Aires. During a charitable visit in Los Angeles in 2020, she made an impression on a pastor by speaking Spanish to one of the women working on the project.
Harry and Meghan are in Colombia until Sunday
Harry and Meghan are in Colombia for a four-day visit, invited by Vice President Francia Márquez. Márquez was inspired to contact Meghan after watching their Netflix program about their departure as working royals and finding her story inspiring.
The tour will continue with a meeting with the Colombian Invictus Games team and a visit to San Basilio de Palenque, known as the first free settlement in the Americas and founded by escaped slaves.
Harry and Meghan have the freedom to choose which media outlets to allow access to cover their trip since they are not employed as royals. They currently have a pool reporter traveling with them from Harpers Bazaar.
