YouTube personality and Kick streamer Jack Doherty crashed his $200,000 McLaren supercar after losing control during a rainy day drive. The influencer, who has over 15 million followers, was livestreaming the incident when footage captured the 20-year-old distractedly texting while driving. Shortly after, he lost control of the car, screaming as it collided with a guardrail, leaving him and his cameraman to deal with the aftermath.
Jack Doherty’s Reckless Driving Leads to Crash
Viral clips on Twitter and YouTube depict YouTuber Jack Doherty’s reckless driving, which resulted in a high-speed crash involving his custom-designed McLaren 570S. The incident took place on a rainy day in Miami, with Doherty’s cameraman, Michael, sitting in the passenger seat.
While livestreaming on Kick, Doherty was seen speeding before his car skidded and collided with a guardrail. The footage captures both him and his cameraman screaming for help as they struggle to escape the wreckage, with the cameraman bleeding heavily from his head and ears. A video posted on Doherty’s X account (formerly Twitter) reveals the aftermath, showing him pleading for assistance while bystanders attempted to break into the driver’s side window.
In the video, Doherty expresses his frustration, saying, “All my money’s gone,” as he reflects on the costly upgrades he made to the car. He then exclaims, “My f—— car!” before turning to his passenger and asking, “Are you okay?”
Fans Reaction
Once the clip went viral, fans quickly criticized the YouTuber rather than expressing sympathy. Many noted that he was using his phone just seconds before the crash and continued the livestream even after the accident, despite seeing his cameraman, Michael, bleeding and in need of medical attention.
Instead of focusing on his friend’s safety, Doherty asked bystanders to hold the camera so he could document the aftermath and even asked if Michael had recorded the incident. Following the backlash, he deleted several clips from earlier in the live stream where he was seen using his phone.
“Bro, your friend is bleeding, blood is gushing, and all you care about is your car,” one user wrote.
“What on earth was he doing still livestreaming with his friend in that condition?” another commented.
“What evil is this?” a third user commented.
