Halsey has recently revealed valuable insights into the making of their newest single, ‘Lucky,’ where they acknowledge Britney Spears’ impactful influence. 

The song features a striking reinterpretation of Spears’ 2000 hit of the same name, highlighting the enduring legacy and creative synergy between these two influential artists in the music industry.

“I shared everything with her every step of the way,”

Halsey said “I shared everything with her every step of the way, From the first demo of the song to a shot-for-shot treatment of the music video, I wanted to make sure I was totally nailing it.”

Halsey disclosed that the celebrities traded stuff associated with their individual “Lucky” anniversaries. She said “She sent me ‘Lucky’ merch for the anniversary, and I sent her some merch and stuff like that, It’s definitely like a pinch me thing. I didn’t even know she knew who l was, kinda.”

The production of the song, which was published on July 26, also features a sample of Monica’s 1997 smash song “Angel of Mine.”

Halsey’s ‘Lucky’ explores fame, motherhood, and personal health struggles, including their recent diagnosis with systemic lupus erythematosus and a rare T-cell lymphoproliferative disorder.

Halsey, who recently discussed the emotional complexities of her project, emphasized the difficulty of communicating contradicting feelings in the video.

The release of ‘Lucky’ was met with controversies, with Britney Spears expressing distress and feeling “harassed, violated, and bullied” by the video. She later clarified it was “fake news” and expressed her admiration for Halsey.

Spears wrote, “I love Halsey and that’s why I deleted it!!!”

Halsey responded by expressing their respect and adoration for Spears with a supporting letter on X. She said “I love Britney!!!! I always have and always will. You were the first person who ever made me realize what it means to feel inspired. And you continue to inspire me every day.”

“Lucky” is Halsey’s first release after their 2021 studio album “If I Can’t Have Love, I Want Power,” and it comes after their June single “The End.”
