At a time when all the nations are carrying out researches on the newly discovered virus, a more shocking piece of information added to the present concern about the pandemic. And that erupted when scientists spotted a new strain of the coronavirus indicating its mutation will be far more menacing than before. Several facts have been encountered during such analysis.
Reports have come up that the new sheer of SARS-CoV-2 will be much more infectious than its antecedent which was reported during the first outbreak of the contagion.
The recent study owes to the US and UK who have also claimed that the strain is already predominating the world through the transmission.
However, the research is based on the data provided by the Global Initiative for Sharing All Influenza Data or GISAID SARS-CoV-2 sequence.
Apart from that, the research paper has mentioned an effective timeline for the stages of mutation. At the beginning of March, the strain occurred only 7 times in 183 sequences, reports have revealed. On the contrary, when it proceeded towards mid-March, the strain was found out in 29% of the global samples as GISAID actively tracked D614G in high frequency. But surprisingly, the strain “was still found almost exclusively in Europe.” If that’s the case, whether it would be restricted to a specific area or not yet needs to be studied.
How The Post-COVID-19 Era Could See India Emerge As A World Power
Now, the prior worry has been forecasted hinting towards the second risk of infection of people that will be truly a nightmare in reality. Hence, one cant but conclude when the pandemic might actually take off in the upcoming days.
