Kelly Rizzo has experienced a sense of solace and growth within the nurturing connection she shares with actor Breckin Meyer.
In a candid interview with E! News on Monday, October 21, the widow of Bob Saget disclosed that her bond with Meyer, aged 50, involves heartfelt discussions about her beloved late husband who passed away in January 2022.
These heartfelt conversations have provided Kelly with a comforting outlet for processing her grief over the unexpected loss of the renowned Full House star.
“He’s just been so supportive”
Rizzo said “He’s just been so supportive. Since day one, that’s just been such a big thing with him. He knew what I went through, and he appreciated it and accepted it — and always likes to talk about Bob,”
“It’s never like, ‘Oh, I don’t wanna mention Bob. I don’t want Breckin to feel bad about that,’” Rizzo added. “He’s just always been so kind about it. It’s been really special. It’s really nice that I’ve been able to move forward with him.” She added.
Meyer has hung out with Saget’s daughters, whom he shared with his first wife Sherri Kramer, according to Rizzo, who was married to Saget from 2018 until his passing four years later.
“It’s pretty impossible not to like Breckin. He’s met Bob’s girls multiple times. We’ve had dinners together. They adore him. He adores them. It’s been really, really nice. They’ve kind of welcomed him,” the “Comfort Food” she stated.
Rizzo went public with Meyer in February
In February, during a 2024 Grammy Awards viewing party, Rizzo and Meyer went public. On February 4, Rizzo made her red carpet debut alongside the Clueless star at a Janie’s Fund charity event.
Rizzo was dressed in a bold leopard-print dress and black knee-high boots, and the two of them clasped hands while they posed for pictures. Meyer chose to wear a gray denim jacket and a graphic T-shirt.
Rizzo said “It took a while to get to the point where I’m like, ‘OK, I think he’d be happy with it,’ It’s wonderful, it just meant so much to have their blessing. They’re just angels. And to have them support is so meaningful.”
A month after revealing her new romance with the Road Trip star, Rizzo responded to those who criticized her for moving on too soon following Saget’s passing.
She explained “I’m gonna start by saying, unless you are a widow or a widower you truly have absolutely no place and no right to comment on this, because you do not know what it’s like, You just don’t understand the incredibly complex and difficult and dynamic thoughts and feelings that come up during this entire process.”
In the four-minute and 34-second video, Rizzo claimed that after losing a spouse, when it finally “crosses your mind to even think about starting to date again, just having those thoughts, you feel guilty, you feel ashamed, you feel terrible, but you also feel lonely, so you wanna do it.”
Regarding her decision to resume dating, Rizzo claimed that Saget’s friends and family showed her “love and support.”
Rizzo went on to remark that, even with that support system, “you still feel really weird about” getting back into the dating game. “But you still need to feel okay with it and peace with it in your heart,” she told me. “I didn’t personally get to that point until well after a year after Bob had passed to even think about it.”
