Italy’s legendary football lineage reached a historic milestone as Daniel Maldini, following in the footsteps of his father Paolo Maldini and grandfather Cesare Maldini, donned the Azzurri jersey for the first time during Monday’s impressive 4-1 victory against Israel.

This momentous occasion not only showcased Daniel’s promising talent but also solidified the Maldini family’s unique legacy in Italian football, creating a powerful narrative that spans across three generations of extraordinary players representing their country at the highest level.

Paolo Maldini attended the Nations League match

During the Nations League match held in Udine, Paolo Maldini, the renowned former AC Milan defender, who also happens to be the son of Cesare Maldini, witnessed a significant moment when his own son stepped onto the field as a substitute in the 74th minute.

It was a poignant scene as the Maldini family legacy continued with this new generation taking the field, following in the footsteps of Cesare Maldini, who played his final match for Italy six decades ago.

This crossover of generations encapsulated the rich history and tradition of Italian football that the Maldini family has been an integral part of for decades.

“I’m happy that my parents came here”

Daniel Maldini said “I’m happy that my parents came here, we’ll talk when I get home, It was a strong, positive emotion, I am very happy to have played and that the match went well … I hope to bring some quality, even if there is already too much, I try to help as much as I can.”

Currently leading their group with an impressive 10 points accumulated from four matches, the Italian national football team is gearing up for a challenging schedule ahead.

In the upcoming month, Italy is set to visit Belgium in what promises to be a riveting match, followed by a highly-anticipated home game against the formidable team from France.
