Sam Raimi, renowned for his acclaimed Spider-Man franchise and his recent directorial role in the much-anticipated Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, has sparked speculation among fans and critics alike regarding a potential comeback for a third installment in the Doctor Strange series.

Raimi’s distinctive style and successful track record in the superhero genre have further fueled these rumors, leading many to eagerly anticipate his potential return to the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Sam Raimi has been attached to multiple movies in the MCU

In the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Sam Raimi has been involved in a number of films. These include the Spider-Man trilogy, which starred Tobey Maguire and was released in 2002, 2004 and 2007.

In 2022, he directed Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness as well. He is known for his unique directorial style, which includes horror elements and dark themes, making him the right person to direct the Doctor Strange sequel.

According to a recent source, the director is in negotiations to helm Doctor Strange 3.

In his most recent email for The InSneider, movie insider Jeff Sneider provided an update regarding the upcoming Doctor Strange movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

It is his statement that Raimi is “nearing [a] deal to direct Doctor Strange 3.” Many fans who were interested in seeing another Doctor Strange film from the director responded to the announcement. “That would be applauded. One person remarked on the news, “DS movies are awesome.

“After Multiverse of Madness, I’ll give him another chance,” commented a different netizen. Both reviewers and fans had differing opinions on the film. Some were thrilled to see the universe in action, as well as the inclusion of a cameo from Patrick Stewart’s Professor X, John Krasinski’s Reed Richards, and other beloved characters from the Illuminati.

The way the director creatively depicted the multiverse also amazed the audience. Some, on the other hand, thought it was excessively chaotic and hoped that, should Doctor Strange 3 come to be, the narrative will center more on Stephen Strange’s journey than the multiverse.

The last film was a lot to take because it explored multiple dimensions

Prior to the September 2023 release of The Art of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness artbook, Raimi discussed the evil side of the formidable magician. “Doctor Strange is a kind man, but he struggles with his own mental health issues. At times, he may exhibit traits of arrogance, selfishness, and pride. And that keeps him from becoming this perfect nice man,” Raimi stated, according to CBR.

He struggles with his darker side and explores the paranormal in a way that some other good-willed magicians believe is unethical. A significant clash with the character exists there.” According to his assessment, Doctor Strange is “a character at war with himself.”

It’s intriguing to consider how Raimi could play the character in the upcoming movie based on his response. It is anticipated that Benedict Cumberbatch and Charlize Theron will play Doctor Strange and Clea, respectively, in the upcoming film.

Even though fans had mixed feelings about Raimi’s first Doctor Strange film, they are still eager to see another one of his creations. The last movie explored various dimensions, which made it difficult to watch. Those who paid careful attention to Raimi’s work relished his return to campy humor combined with horror.

The audience responded well to the images and ominous supernatural themes as well. Hopefully, the next film will focus more on the titular superhero’s story because there is plenty to explore. In order for spectators to fully comprehend the characters’ evolution, the pacing should also be slower.
