On Oct. 2, the 42-year-old Princess of Wales made an unexpected visit to Windsor Castle following Prince William’s investiture ceremonies, where she had a private meeting with 16-year-old Liz Hatton, an aspiring photographer dealing with a rare and aggressive type of cancer. Prince William, also 42, had invited Liz and her family to document the investitures as part of her “photography bucket list.” Liz later expressed to BBC Radio 4 that meeting the Prince and Princess of Wales was a “massive shock.”
Princess Kate Wears Special Temple of Heaven Earrings at Windsor
Princess Kate sported a maroon suit paired with her Cassandra Goad Temple of Heaven earrings, which she had pulled from her jewelry collection. These earrings carry a special significance, as noted by the brand.
“The Temple of Heaven earrings in yellow gold are inspired by the Emperor of China. The Emperor was regarded as the son of Heaven, responsible for the celestial power for success or failure of his government,” the Cassandra Goad website states that the drop earrings, made of yellow gold, retail for $3,347 and are currently available for purchase.
Statement earrings are a key element of Princess Kate’s fashion choices, and she has previously worn the Temple of Heaven earrings. Notably, she donned them for Zara Tindall’s pre-wedding celebration in 2011 and at a 2014 reception for Place2Be, a children’s mental health charity for which she serves as patron, among other events.
Cassandra Goad Jewelry Brand Highlights Kate’s Style Choices
Cassandra Goad is a female-founded jewelry brand based in London. The Princess of Wales previously wore the brand’s Cavolfiore Pearl Studs during Trooping the Colour in June, which were also part of her collection. This event marked one of Kate’s two official public appearances in 2024, following her announcement in March about undergoing treatment for cancer.
Continuing her recent trend, Kate chose not to wear her iconic sapphire engagement ring, previously owned by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana. Instead, she opted for a different ring, a choice she has made multiple times in recent appearances.
On September 9, the Princess of Wales released a video message revealing that she had completed her chemotherapy treatment and shared her thoughts on what she envisioned for the upcoming months.
“Doing what I can to stay cancer free is now my focus. Although I have finished chemotherapy, my path to healing and full recovery is long and I must continue to take each day as it comes,” Princess Kate said.
“I am, however, looking forward to being back at work and undertaking a few more public engagements in the coming months when I can,” she added.
