Jane’s Addiction, the renowned rock band, took a stand by issuing a sincere “heartfelt apology” and subsequently decided to cancel one of their upcoming shows.

This decision came following a violent altercation that erupted between some of the band members during a recent concert, a concerning incident that prompted them to address the matter responsibly and prioritize the well-being and safety of all involved.

“We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans”

During their Friday, September 13 gig in Boston, lead vocalist Perry Farrell punched guitarist Dave Navarro. The incident was reported by the band in a statement that was shared on their Instagram Stories on Saturday, September 14.

The lead vocalist was subsequently restrained by crew members and bassist Eric Avery before being taken off stage, and the entire incident was documented by the numerous spectators.

The band issued a statement, it read “We want to extend a heartfelt apology to our fans for the events that unfolded last night,”

They also added “as a result” of the incident, they would “be canceling tomorrow night’s show in Bridgeport.”

Jane’s Addiction was set to play at the Hartford Healthcare Amphitheater in Connecticut as part of their North American tour, starting on August 9 in Las Vegas.

The tour features the band’s classic lineup, including drummer Stephen Perkins, for the first time since 2010. Fans can now request refunds for tickets.

Following Perry’s wife Etty Lau Farrell’s post on Instagram on September 14th, in which she provided a “first person account” and described the events of the September 13 show, the apology and cancellation of the September 15th show followed.

In her post she stated “Clearly there had been a lot of tension and animosity between the members.. the magic that made the band so dynamic. Well, the dynamite was lit. Perry got up in Dave’s face and body checked him.”

She continued by describing “why” the incident had happened in detail from her perspective, writing “Perry’s frustration had been mounting, night after night, he felt that the stage volume had been extremely loud and his voice was being drowned out by the band.”

Etty continued, saying her spouse had been “suffering from tinnitus and a sore throat every night.”

“But when the audience in the first row, started complaining up to Perry cussing at him that the band was planning too loud and that they couldn’t hear him, Perry lost it,” she continued.

“The band started the song Ocean before Perry was ready”

According to Etty “The band started the song Ocean before Perry was ready and did the count off.. The stage volume was so loud at that point, that Perry couldn’t hear pass the boom and the vibration of the instruments and by the end of the song, he wasn’t singing, he was screaming just be to be heard.”

Etty claimed that Navarro tried to de-escalate the situation by keeping her husband at arm’s length, but Avery put Perry in a headlock and punched him in the stomach three times. A crew member pulled Avery away, and the bassist apologized to the audience for the show ending early.

Etty recounted the aftermath of a fight, revealing that Navarro remained cool and handsome, but her husband was a crazed beast for half an hour, eventually breaking down and crying repeatedly.

She wrote “Eric, well he either didn’t understand what descalation meant or took advantage of the situation and got in a few cheap shots on Perry,”

Etty emphasized her “first-person account narrative” in her post, encouraging her followers to view the video themselves.
