Liverpool star Jarell Quansah has eloquently expressed his ambition to solidify his position as one of the premier defenders across the European football landscape as he strives to reach the pinnacle in his career, showcasing his unwavering dedication and determination to establish a lasting legacy among the elite ranks of the sport in the foreseeable future.
Quansah is one of the best young centre-backs
Since making his Premier League debut for the Reds in August of last year, Quansah has established himself as one of the top young center-backs in the game. For his boyhood club, he has started 28 of his 34 games in all competitions, tallying three goals and the same number of assists thus far.
Liverpool’s centre-back, in an interview with The Times, expressed his ambitions to become one of the best in his position.
He said “I want to be the best defender in Europe one day. I’m up against the best centre-halves in the world at Liverpool, in my opinion. I think I’ll have to be one of the best centre-halves in Europe if I’m starting.”
Speaking about how Virgil van Dijk, the captain of the Reds, is now assisting him in developing as a football player, Quansah continued “The way Virgil talks you through the game, I’ve never heard anyone like it. He might annoy us at times but it’s all for the greater good. With all the experience he has and the situations he’s been in, it’s only fair that he can share his knowledge so we can be the best players we can.”
He finally said “It’s always been the goal since I was young, I’ve always wanted to be the best in the world in my position and so I’m striving for that and it doesn’t matter how long it takes, I’m not going to get too disheartened if it’s not 2026 [FIFA World Cup]. I know what I need to do and hopefully I keep improving. The more and more games I play, it will come and it’s about taking that opportunity.”
Arne Slot’s side have won all three of their Premier League games so far
Liverpool, who just recently bid adieu to their esteemed manager Jurgen Klopp in May of this year, have commenced the 2024-25 season with an impressive streak of victories under the stewardship of Arne Slot. The Reds have triumphed in all three of their Premier League encounters thus far, marking a promising start to their campaign.
Their first triumph came in a 2-0 victory over Ipswich Town on August 17, followed by a commanding 2-0 win against Brentford at the iconic Anfield stadium on August 25.
In a noteworthy display of dominance earlier this month, Liverpool showcased their prowess by outplaying Manchester United with a resounding 3-0 victory at Old Trafford, with goals coming from the likes of Luis Diaz, who netted twice, and Mohamed Salah, who found the back of the net in the second half.
