Lauren Sánchez, the fiancée of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, lovingly reflects on how the billionaire chooses to spend his mornings, shedding light on the routines of the world’s second-richest person.
For the former Emmy-winning news anchor, this tranquil time shared with Bezos holds a special place, as it allows them to enjoy moments of peace together before the bustling day unfolds, becoming her cherished part of the day.
“My favourite part of the day is the morning,”
Sánchez talked about their morning quality time, she said “My favourite part of the day is the morning,”
“I love waking up. I make myself a cup of coffee. I make Jeff a cup of coffee, and we kind of have this magic moment where it’s just us talking. The kids haven’t woken up yet. And we don’t get on our phones. That’s one of the rules.” She added.
Sánchez acknowledges that she could be tempted to grab her phone immediately, but Bezos decides to enforce the ban against using phones in the morning.
She said “He definitely made that rule, It wasn’t me. But the mornings are just us for as long as we can.”
Sánchez is the mother of three children
After enjoying some quiet time together, Sánchez helps her kids get ready for school and then focuses on them.
Sánchez is a mother of three children, Nikko Gonzales, age 23, who she shares with former football star Tony Gonzales, and teens Evan and Ella, whom she shared with her ex-husband, Hollywood agent Patrick Whitesell.
Although her children are now self-sufficient and drive, Sánchez remembers “I used to drive them and it was literally the best part of my day. They were probably way more excited about getting their driver’s licenses than I was. But they used to open up to me in the car. It was magic.”
After the children leave, Sánchez, Bezos, and their dogs have the remainder of the morning to themselves. Sánchez has been promoting her new children’s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space, which is set to be released on September 10.
Bezos continues to manage his vast business empire, including Amazon, The Washington Post, and Blue Origin, despite their busy lives, she claims they are Yin and Yang.
“Jeff can sit and focus on something for hours, and I’m like, ‘What are we going to do? Where are we going to go?’ But we’re a good couple in that way.” She adds.
