During a high-energy performance in Hamden, Connecticut, on August 30, the renowned entertainer Fatman Scoop, whose real name is Isaac Freeman III, suddenly collapsed on stage, causing concern among the audience.
Mayor Lauren Garrett promptly addressed the incident on Facebook, informing the community. Subsequently, emergency responders swiftly attended to Scoop’s condition and transported him to the hospital for urgent medical care.
“We will provide updates when they are available”
Garrett wrote “Tonight, while performing at Hamden Town Center Park, Isaac Freeman, aka Fatman Scoop, had a medical emergency on stage, He is being transported by ambulance to the hospital. We will provide updates when they are available. Please keep him in your thoughts and prayers.”
Hamden Police Department responded to a medical emergency call at 8:33 p.m. on August 30. Freeman, who appeared shirtless, walked from the front of the stage to the back where a raised DJ booth was located. He stepped up on the booth, saying, “I said, Hamden make some noise!”.
The rapper then leaned forward on the booth and stood next to the DJ. He said “Way down, If you came to party … make some noise …” He then leaned to his side, bumping into the DJ, and falling to the ground behind the booth.
“They doing CPR.”
TMZ posted video from the concert showing what appeared to be high-visibility vest wearing medics giving Freeman chest compressions while he lay unmoving behind the booth and concertgoers looked on.
In the video, a concertgoer can also be heard saying, “They doing CPR.” Toward the end of the video, another concertgoer captured footage as several people cared for Freeman and appeared to carry him from the stage, presumably to be taken to the hospital. “Oh my God,” the person filming was heard exclaiming.
Freeman’s condition has not been made public, and when asked for an update, Freeman’s agents did not get back to us right away.
