France warned of potential terror attack on Israeli athletes by terrorists.

Israel Kats, the foreign minister of Israel sent his French counterpart, Stéphane Séjourné a letter sharing information about intelligence received by the Israeli government of a potential terror attack on Israeli athletes participating in the 2024 Paris Olympics by Iranian terrorists.

“There are those who seek to undermine the celebratory nature of this joyous event,” wrote Katz.

“We currently have assessments regarding the potential threat posed by Iranian terrorist proxies and other terrorist organizations who aim to carry out attacks against members of the Israeli delegation and Israeli tourists during the Olympics.”

88 Israeli athletes are participating in the Paris Games

Although Argentina and Morocco’s football match kicked off the Paris Olympics on July 24, the opening ceremony is scheduled for this Friday, July 26. Remarkably, 88 competitors from Israel are competing in the Paris Games.

They have been protected around the clock by French security agencies as well as Shin Bet (Israeli security agency) agents.

‘A repeat of the events of Munich 1972’ warned the terrorists

Israeli athletes have received threatening phone calls and emails prior to the quadrennial tournament. The first emails were signed by “the People’s Defence Organisation,” an organisation that does not exist, and they were sent to the email addresses of fifteen athletes.

The message said “The People’s Defense Organization announces that it intends to harm any Israeli presence at the Olympics. The Jewish lobby that controls the French Parliament won’t decide anything anymore.”

It also added “Therefore, you’re not invited to Paris 2024. If you come, take into account that we intend to repeat the events of Munich 1972.”

The message forewarned of another terrorist attack similar to the one that occurred in Munich in 1972, when Israeli athletes were kidnapped by the Black September organisation, leading to the deaths of 11 people and one German police officer.
