Why did Keanu Reeves never finish his High School?

The famous actor Keanu Reeves is one of those stars who did not finish his high school but that didn’t pose any hurdle in his career as he became a great actor without an education. The John Wick star left his school as a teenager and went on to become one of the highest-paid actors in the world as well. But the reason is somewhat heartbreaking also.

The Toy Story 4 actor opened up about his high school experience, describing it as “difficult.”
“I went to four different high schools in five years,” Reeves said in a 2008 interview with The Daily Mail. “I was OK academically, good at English and creative writing. I was on the chess team.”

He also jokingly said that the school was small where he didn’t fit in as he had issues with the staff. He even shared that he used to ask many questions despite knowing that get him into trouble. Obviously, that turned into an issue for school staff members, and Reeves, at last, got removed at 16 years old.

“It’s a terrible letter to receive, saying you can’t come back to school next year. Getting asked to leave was very upsetting,” Reeves said on his expulsion.

Reeves added, “I wanted my autonomy, and if you wanted to impose something on me, then you and I would have a problem.”

Reeves further said in another interview that he decided to become an actor when he was young, nearly 17 or 18 years of age.

“I started taking acting courses at night,” he expressed. “It just seemed the thing to do. Most of it was out of respect for acting. I worked at some Stanislavsky stuff and I was playing around with sense memory. I started crashing auditions and then I got some jobs and joined the community theatre. Then I got an agent.”

Reeves made his debut in 1984 when he was featured on a Canadian sitcom named Hangin’ In, which was aired on Nickelodeon. From there, he was featured in numerous shows, such as Bill & Ted’s Excellent Adventure (1989) and Bram Stoker’s Dracula (1992). His career took a huge step when he featured in a role in 1999’s The Matrix.

He has been in this field for more than two decades. Even in 2019 also, he acted in films like Toy Story 4 and John Wick 3. Many more to come in the near future as well.
