Actor Tom Cruise showed a little stunt as he swung from the top of Stade de France before landing on the stadium’s field to close the Paris Olympics 2024. He is well known for performing his stunts and concludes the Olympics by passing the torch to Los Angeles for the 2028 Games.
Tom Cruise Carried the Olympic Torch
Tom Cruise has long been a fan and supporter of the Olympic Games. He carried the Olympic torch at Dodger Stadium during the L.A. portion of the Olympic Torch Relay in 2004. Moreover, he was seen several times attending the events in the Paris Olympics including swimming competitions on July 27, the women’s gymnastics qualifications on July 28, and the women’s soccer gold medal match on August 10, where the U.S. claimed victory over Brazil.
In a report by People, Cruise said “I’m on my way,” as he put on skydiving gear to the tune of “By the Way” by the Red Hot Chili Peppers. He then leaped from the plane and headed to the iconic Hollywood sign, where he transformed the “O”s into Olympic rings and passed the flag off to Olympic cyclist Kate Courtney.
The Mission: Impossible — Dead Reckoning Part One star, greeted athletes as he walked toward the stage, accompanied by some shredding guitar courtesy of H.E.R., who had just performed the American national anthem. Moreover, he received the Olympic flag from Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass and gymnast Simone Biles, then rode off in a motorcycle into the sunset or a pre-recorded video showing his journey to Hollywood.
Team USA Flag Bearers Shares Their Experiences
Team USA gold medal winner and the flag bearers for the closing ceremony are swimmer Katie Ledecky and rower Nick Mead.
Mead shares her experience at the Olympics and said, “To share this privilege with Katie makes it all the more special. My experience at the Paris Games has been the dream of a lifetime and I’m filled with immense pride, gratitude, and joy. I also wish to thank the city of Paris, and the entire country of France, for hosting an incredible Games. I’ll cherish these memories forever.”
On the other hand, Ledecky talks about the accomplishments and said, “I am so proud of this team’s accomplishments in Paris. And [I’m] excited to celebrate with my teammates on Sunday.”
