Marc Scott completed the half marathon in just one hour and one minute 11 seconds after winning the UK Athletics 5K Road Running Championship on Friday 6 September. He finished the race 11 seconds faster than his 2021 race-winning time.
Abel KipChumba Won The Race
Kenya’s Abel Kipchumba won the race within the time of 59:52, while Norway’s Sondre Noen secured third place.
Eilish McColgan secured fifth place and returned after her injury to compete for Britain in the women’s race at the Paris Olympics.
McColgan was part of a leading group of six that led through, but in the final 400 meters, Kenya’s Mary Ngugi-Cooper with Ethiopia’s Senbere Teferi, and Alemu Megertu, edged ahead.
Kenya was the first to cross the line with a time of 1:07:40 and Terefi secured second while Megertu third.
“It Has Always Been A Dream”
“It was amazing. It has always been a dream to come and race here. For me to come here, do it and win it is a dream come true,” Ngugi-Cooper told the BBC.
Since giving birth in March, it was Hall’s first half marathon and recorded a time of 58:26.
“I am really happy with how today went and I have been training really hard. I do feel like I have a different body now, I’m working with a different body and learning how that works for me now. Timings are all different, juggling motherhood and training is completely different but I am enjoying it,” said Hall, reported by BBC News.
Claudia Burrough, Hall’s compatriot completed in 1:06:52 and Spain’s Carmen Gimenez secured third place.
Britain’s Johnboy Smith claimed a victory in 48:59 and his compatriot Sean Frame completed behind him in 49:39 while Spain’s Rafael Botello Jimenez secured third place in the men’s wheelchair race.
