The famous star Selena Gomez is once again ready to surprise her fans with her new show. The streaming service has announced on Friday that the star will join Steve Martin and Martin Short, the cast of the upcoming comedy series Only Murders in the Building.
The story revolves around three strangers (Martin, Short, and Gomez) who share an obsession with true crime and suddenly find themselves wrapped up in one murder as well.
The project belongs to co-creators and writers Martin and John Hoffman (Grace & Frankie, Looking). Moreover, the pair will executive produce along with Selena Gomez, Short, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal.
The role will see the return of Selena Gomez to TV after a long time. Notably, she came in the limelight as the star of Disney Channel’s Wizards of Waverly Place, which used to air for four seasons from 2007 to 2012. However, she didn’t have to look back and became highly successful in the music industry and also appeared in several movies which also included Spring Breakers, The Big Short, Fundamentals of Caring and The Dead Don’t Die.

Not only this, but Selena has also executive produced the Netflix series 13 Reasons Why and the Netflix docu-series Living Undocumented about undocumented people in the United States as well.
From music, movies to cooking, Selena is everywhere!
Apart from her music and movies, she is going to feature in a new cooking show on HBO Max, Selena + Chef, which explores her skills in the kitchen while staying at home during the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak. Her last studio album, Rare was dropped in January whereas her makeup line, Rare Beauty, will come on September 3.
Last week, the 28-year-old singer shared on social media that she had so many exciting things coming up and she can’t wait to share with all of her fans.
Hulu’s head of originals Craig Erwich told Deadline, “I heard the pitch on Wednesday, and it was the best hour I had all week. It’s really special, surprisingly emotional. It’s really modern and self-referential about podcasts and murders, it’s got some great surprises. When they pull this off, it’s going to be really special.”
Earlier too Hulu has found success in the true crime genre, though not in comedy form. They previously aired done the Emmy-winning limited series “The Act”. It is expected that they will come out with flying colours this time too.
