Ricky Gervais makes fun of Hollywood with explicit jokes at Golden Globes

Ricky Gervais has started the Golden Globes by saying the audience that this was his fifth time hosting and happened to be his last and then proceeded to deliver an expletive-laced skewering of Hollywood’s stars as well.

On Sunday, Gervais opened the show with a funny mood while pretending to confuse Joe Pesci for Baby Yoda, citing the Hollywood Foreign Press Association racist and claiming Netflix’s takeover of Hollywood. The actor was bleeped multiple times as well which included while he refers to a body part of Dame Judi Dench, and then when he advised the night’s winners to stick to thanking their agents and their Gods, not talking much for the others.

“Most of you spent less time in school than Greta Thunberg, so if you win, come up, accept your award, thank your agent and your God and (expletive) off,” he said, referring to the teen activist of climate change.

Gervais further commented on journalist Ronan Farrow as the audience were “terrified” because of him. He won a Pulitzer for his reporting on disgraced Hollywood mogul Harvey Weinstein. On Monday, Weinstein went on trial in New York City for sexual assault. Gervais also told the crowd about Farrow too.

After that, Weinstein joked at the end of the broadcast where he said, “I didn’t do it. You did it.”
He also joked about the age of famous star Leonardo DiCaprio. He commented about his dates saying even Prince Andrew who happened to be a former friend of Epstein has also denied he was associated in Epstein’s alleged crimes, wouldn’t approve as well.

“Even Prince Andrew is like, ‘C’mon, Leo. Mate, you’re nearly 50,'” shared Gervais. However, not many in the audience were surprised by Gervais’ gesture as he’s taken delight in mocking the Hollywood stars with his jokes earlier as well.
